U.S. having more sex, but liking it less

PRINCETON, N.J., July 12 (UPI) -- U.S. adults say they're having sex 151 times a year, on average, compared to 120 times last year, but sexual satisfaction has declined, a survey indicated.

The survey by Trojan Brand Condoms found 67 percent of Americans claimed to be satisfied with their sex life in 2012 versus 76 percent in 2011.

Nearly 81 percent said they were looking for ways to make their sex life more exciting, the survey said.

Thirty-two percent said they had sex outdoors, one-third said they've had sex on the beach or at a friend's place, while 25 percent said they had sex at their in-laws' house.

Fifty-six percent said they were sexually adventurous, with Midwesterners taking the lead in thrill-seeking at 60 percent, while the South led in faked orgasms at 44 percent, the survey said.

Twenty-three percent said they have engaged in sexting, 16 percent said they have sent a naughty photo or video and 22 percent have participated in phone sex.

The survey was conducted May 4-15, among a national sample of 1,000 U.S. adults weighted to U.S. Census on age, gender, region, ethnicity, income, education. The survey has a margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.
