ST. LOUIS, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- A study that looked at people with no memory or language problems indicated more active people had less Alzheimer's risk than others, U.S. researchers said.

Denise Head of the Washington University in St. Louis and colleagues looked at people with a form of the APOE gene -- AP0E-e4 -- which has been linked to greater buildup of amyloid protein in the brain.

Amyloids are proteins associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease.

"The combination of a sedentary lifestyle and APOE-e4 status was associated with a higher level of amyloid deposition," Head reported in the study, which was funded in part by the National Institutes of Health and published in the Archives of Neurology.
