LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- A Southern California porn trade group says it intends to revive a controversial database tracking adult performers' sexually transmitted disease test results.
Beginning Friday, the Adult Performer Health and Safety Services database will provide porn producers and agents with access to results from numerous testing facilities, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
The new database will inform producers and agents whether performers are available for work without revealing specific test results
Diane Duke, executive director of the Free Speech Coalition that created the database, said it would be at least two months before testing of performers is complete and the database is fully functional.
"We're vetting different sites and talking to them about how our performers should be treated, making sure the quality is there, that the standards are there," Duke said.
The industry's database of test results had previously been maintained by AIM Medical Associates P.C. before it closed down in May amid allegations it revealed performers' private medical information.
"We're going to be very protective of our performers' rights," Duke said.
