WASHINGTON, June 24 (UPI) -- Rugby Laboratories Inc., of Duluth, Ga., is recalling 898,000 packages of children's pain and fever drops due to substandard packaging, regulators said.
Rugby's Children's Pain & Fever Concentrated Drops, which contains acetaminophen, is required to be packaged according to the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.
The bottle sold with the medicine is deemed child-resistant but the dropper provided with the medicine is not properly packaged, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.
The recall involves 1/2 fluid ounce bottles with UPC code 305361936723.
The medicine has been sold nationwide since January 2009 for about $4.
Consumers were advised to store the medicine in a child-resistant space. To arrange for a replacement dropper, consumers were advised to call Altaire Pharmaceuticals at 800-258-2471.
For information, consumers can call 800-645-2158.
