E-cigarettes + social media = 'wow factor'

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 11 (UPI) -- A U.S. maker of electronic cigarettes had made it easier for users of the nicotine-vapor dispensers to find other e-smokers nearby, the manufacturer says.

Blu says it has developed packs of e-cigarettes with sensors that will let the e-smokers to know when other e-smokers are nearby, The New York Times reported.

"You'll meet more people than ever, just because of the wow factor," Jason Healy, the founder of Blu told the Times. "It's like with any new technology."

The reusable "smart packs," set to go on sale next month for $80 for five e-cigarettes, will vibrate and flash a blue light when the e-smokers are within 50 feet of one another.

The packs can also be set to exchange social media contact information that can be downloaded onto personal computers.

In the future the packs will monitor how much people are e-smoking and provide them or their doctors with the data, Healy says.
