LONDON, April 18 (UPI) -- Most office workers in Britain say they eat fewer than three servings of fruit or vegetables a day while at work, a survey indicates.

A survey by OnePoll and London fruit delivery company Fruitdrop indicates only 10 percent of office workers in Britain eat three pieces of fruit or vegetables daily while at work, while 7.5 percent eat more than the recommended amount.

Fruitdrop officials say since Britons spend a large part of their day at work they should try to eat three of the recommended five daily servings, of fruit and vegetables there.

Office workers ages 35-44 are the most likely to do so with 14 percent reporting they eat a three portions a day while on the job, but those ages 18-24 are the least likely (6 percent).

Encouraging Britain's workforce to enjoy a healthier diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables may help not only long-term health to prevent cancer and heart disease, but eating oranges, which provide vitamin C, may reduce the risk of colds and flu, Fruitdrop officials say.

No survey details were provided.
