HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- With half of flu season still ahead, Kmart is offering $15 flu shots, while supplies last, to customers who have yet to be vaccinated, store officials say.

"As Kmart Pharmacy gears up to provide customers with additional influenza immunizations, we want to remind people that the virus is easily transferable, and the best and easiest way to prevent the flu is by getting an annual vaccination," Robb Ayshford, divisional vice president for pharmacy administration at Kmart, says in a statement.

"For those seeking more information about influenza, our staff of knowledgeable on-site Kmart pharmacists is also available to answer flu or other health-related questions on how to help combat illness as the season progresses."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta says the extent of influenza has been increasing throughout the season and in recent updates, has been reported widespread in 37 states.

The CDC recommends that anyone six months or older get a flu shot.

Members of the Shop Your Way Rewards program, who purchase a flu vaccination will also earn 15,000 points, which represent a $15 value.
