CANTON, Mass., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Almost half of U.S. adults say they plan on taking a nap after eating their Thanksgiving meal, a U.S. survey indicates.
The survey, by Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates commissioned by Dunkin' Donuts, indicates 68 percent of respondents say they prefer a holiday snooze after Thanksgiving dinner, while 32 percent say they prefer their nap before the big meal.
Forty-three percent say they planned on spending more time at work this week to make up for holiday time off -- especially workers ages 18-24.
Only 10 percent say they planned on doing Thanksgiving shopping on the actual holiday, with 63 percent saying they completed most of their shopping for the Thanksgiving meal the week before the holiday.
Many say one of the things they give thanks for is leftovers. The survey respondents say their favorite leftovers are turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, potatoes, ham, cranberry sauce and green beans.
The survey found fathers and brothers are the most likely to say something inappropriate at the Thanksgiving meal, followed by sisters, mothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, spouses, sons, nieces and nephews.
The survey of 500 U.S. adults ages 18-49 was conducted Nov. 6-8 and has a margin of error of 4.38 percentage points.
