Consume a whole day's calories in a drink

EMMAUS, Pa., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Few would eat 68 strips of bacon in one meal but one can consumer the same amount of calories by drinking a milkshake, the U.S. magazine Men's Health says.

In its list, the 20 Worst Drinks in America, Men's Health calls Cold Stone Creamery's Peanut Butter and Chocolate 24-ounce shake the "Worst Beverage in America," for its 2,010 calories -- a full day's calories for an average person -- with 131 grams of fat and 153 grams sugar. For an alternative choose Cold Stone's Sinless Smoothies, which blend fruit and juices and start at 110 calories.

Some experts say America's obesity problem is partly due to the number of calories consumed via beverages such as one that may be the country's most popular milk shake: McDonald's Triple Thick Chocolate Shake, a 32-ounce drink with 1,160 calories, 27 grams of fat and 168 grams of sugar.

Those thinking Krispy Kreme Lemon Sherbet Chiller may be less fattening because it uses sherbet are out of luck. The 20-ounce beverage has 980 calories, 40 grams of fat 115 grams of sugar -- 16 medium-size chocolate eclairs.
