REGENSDORF, Switzerland, March 8 (UPI) -- A new smaller condom, called the Hotshot, has been designed to fit males ages 12-14, officials at Lamprecht AG, a condom manufacturer in Switzerland, said.

Nysse Norballe, a spokesman for Lamprecht AG, said the company had been approached by an AIDS awareness organization in Switzerland after it "had carried out many studies which found that a lot of young people -- i.e. teenagers -- had trouble finding a suitably sized condom," ABC-TV News reported.

The company said Britain would be a "top priority" if the company expanded abroad. Studies show more male teens are sexually active then in the 1990s and Britain has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe, The Daily Telegraph reported.

"At the moment we are only producing the Hotshot in Switzerland," Norballe said. "But the United Kingdom is certainly a very attractive market since there is a very high rate of underage conception."

A standard condom has a diameter of 2 inches, or 5.2 centimeters, while the Hotshot's diameter is 1.7 inches, or 4.5 centimeters. Both are 7.4 inches, or 19 centimeters, long.
