WASHINGTON, July 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. government and the AARP released two checklists to help men and women over age 50 stay healthy and prevent disease, officials said.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the AARP released an accompanying wall chart, Staying Healthy at 50-plus timeline, that provides information about recommended preventive services and can be posted in both clinical and community settings.

Three publications: -- Men: Stay Healthy at 50-plus, Checklists for Your Health; Women: Stay Healthy at 50-plus, Checklists for Your Health; and the Staying Healthy at 50-plus timeline -- show at a glance the evidence-based recommendations from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force on screening tests, preventive medicines and healthy lifestyle behaviors for people 50 and older.

"As we age, what we need to do to stay healthy begins to change," Dr. Carolyn M. Clancy, director of the AHRQ, said in a statement. "These new easy-to-read checklists help Americans age 50 and older realize the important steps they can take to stay healthy."
