MORRISTOWN, N.J., July 31 (UPI) -- Actavis said Tuesday it launched its generic version of Ortho-McNeil's anti-fungal treatment, Grifulvin V, in the United States.

Actavis' drug, known as griseofulvin oral suspension, is indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin, fingernails and toenails.

Annual sales of the drug in the United States for the 12 months ending March 2007 totaled approximately $38 million.

Actavis, which is headquartered in Iceland, generates one-third of its sales in the United States. The company plans to file up to 45 abbreviated new drug applications and launch as many as 20 new products this year.
