ST. LOUIS, July 10 (UPI) -- U.S. firm KV Pharmaceutical said Tuesday it has licensed China marketing rights to its vaginosis drug Clindesse to Beijing Med-Pharm Corporation.
The agreement gives Beijing Med-Pharm exclusive rights in the People's Republic of China to market and distribute the single-dose, clindamycin phosphate vaginal cream indicated for treatment of bacterial vaginosis.
Under the deal, Beijing Med-Pharm has agreed to complete late-stage clinical development and registration of Clindesse before launching the product in China.
"We expect that Beijing Med-Pharm will expedite the registration process and then provide optimal promotional support and distribution reach to quickly establish this new therapeutic option, win market share and potentially expand the market by offering a more convenient one-dose treatment," said Marc Hermelin, KV's chairman and chief executive officer.
