DETROIT, July 3 (UPI) -- U.S. generic drug maker Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories said Tuesday it has been cleared to market a generic version of the anti-depressant Paxil.
The paroxetine hydrochloride tablet is indicated for a range of psychological disorders including major depressive disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Paxil maker GlaxoSmithKline racked up annual sales of roughly $330 million for the 12 months ending in March 2007, according to IMS data, Caraco said.
"We plan to market this product to the generic pharmaceutical market immediately. This will bring our total product selection to 34 different products represented by 70 various strengths," said Caraco CEO Daniel Movens.
