ATLANTA, June 6 (UPI) -- The trend toward retail medicine is now reaching out to a new market -- the flying public -- following this week's opening of the AeroClinic in Atlanta airport.
Unveiled in the main terminal of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport, AeroClinic said it is staffed with certified medical personnel "trained and experienced in diagnosing and treating ailments which could ruin a business trip, family vacation or international journey."
The new health clinic provides remedies for ailments including colds, flu, sinus infection, headache, earache, sore throats, and seasonal allergies, but the company said air travelers can also stop in between flights for preventive testing for chronic diseases, health screenings, physical exams and routine immunizations.
"Americans have made it clear that convenience and affordability are important factors they look for when making a healthcare decision," said Garry Jones, chief operating officer of AeroClinic. "With the AeroClinic now available to millions of the flying public, we feel we are on the front line of change in the healthcare and aviation industries."
