PITTSBURGH, May 31 (UPI) -- Mylan said Thursday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration tentatively approved its generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Paxil CR.

Mylan said its drug, known by its generic name of paroxetine extended-release tablets, is eligible for final approval on June 29, when Paxil CR's pediatric exclusivity expires.

Paxil CR, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor indicated for treating depression, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder, generated $307 million in sales for the 12 months ending March 31.

Side effects associated with Paxil CR include suicidal thoughts or actions, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite, abnormal vision and sleepiness.
