Youth see spring break as time for a fling

DALLAS, March 9 (UPI) -- Young U.S. single men and women aren't looking for a life partner during spring break this year, says a survey by an online dating site.

Only 2 percent of the members of True.com say they want to find someone to marry during spring break, but 30 percent say they wanted a spring fling.

Twenty-nine percent of the survey participants say they are interested in casual dating during the spring holiday vacation, while 16 percent are looking for a friend with whom to spend the week.

Nonetheless, despite what may be realistic expectations, 86 percent say they were open to dating someone long term after meeting them during spring break.

The survey also reveals where singles plan to meet other singles: 36 percent of respondents plan to go to a beach or lake destination, 30 percent of respondents are staying home, 21 percent plan to take a road trip, 10 percent are going to a non-beach destination and 4 percent are going skiing.
