Teva OK'd for generic Zoloft

JERUSALEM, June 30 (UPI) -- Teva said Friday it has received the go-ahead to market the first generic of Pfizer's anti-depressant Zoloft in the United States.

The Israeli drug maker said it was approved to sell sertraline tablets in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg strengths.

Teva said it would launch the product in late July.

The company estimated U.S. sales of Zoloft at approximately $3 billion for the 12 months ended March 2006, quoting IMS data.

As the first firm to make a generic version of Zoloft, Teva is entitled to six months' market exclusivity.
