Aetna expands doctor price information

HARTFORD, Conn., March 28 (UPI) -- U.S. insurance giant Aetna will provide Web access to cost and quality data on individual doctors in five new cities, the company said Wednesday.

Beginning in April, patients can find information on the cost, clinical quality and efficiency information of doctors in Houston; Atlanta; Richmond, Va; Oklahoma City, and Tulsa, Okla.

Doctors in Maine will also be included, and doctor price information will be available in Utah.

With the addition of the new markets, data are available in all or parts of 16 states and the District of Columbia, giving one in five of the company's 36 million beneficiaries price information on their local doctors, the company said.
