FDA inspection of Wyeth plant continues

MADISON, N.H., Feb. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. drug maker Wyeth said Wednesday an inspection by the Food and Drug Administration of its Puerto Rican site will take several more weeks.

The inspection of the company's Guayama, Puerto Rico-based facility is related to a warning letter Wyeth received from the agency last May, which cited a number of violations at the plant.

The FDA inspection began in late January, Wyeth said, adding that it has undertaken a corrective action plan to improve compliance at the facility.

Separately, Wyeth reaffirmed its 2007 full-year pro forma diluted earnings-per-share guidance of $3.40 to $3.50, which it noted represents an 8-percent to 11-percent increase over last year.

The estimate excludes any potential restructuring charges resulting from the company's ongoing review of business processes and systems.
