Milestone unveils single-tooth anesthesia

LIVINGSTON, N.J., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. firm Milestone Scientific said it is taking initial orders for its Single Tooth Anesthesia Delivery System.

The company said it has generated $1.67 million in revenues from the first 500 orders for the novel system that allows dentists to anesthetize a single tooth, rather than an entire portion of the jaw before performing dental work, thus avoiding the numbing of the patient's cheek, lips and tongue.

The orders also include 24 of the company's CompuDent systems and some disposable dental products, the company said.

Milestone said it entered into a deal last month with healthcare products distributor Henry Schein granting exclusive marketing rights to the STA system and other Milestone products in the United States and Canada.

"It is clear that Henry Schein shares our expectations for a favorable response to the upcoming product launch of the STA Delivery System," said Leonard Osser, Milestones' chairman and chief executive officer. "Aside from marking a critical business achievement for Milestone, these orders, coupled with anticipated near term sales of the STA Delivery System, are expected to contribute measurably to our Company's fundamental growth in 2007."
