SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Privately held firm BioForm Medical said Wednesday it has been approved for U.S. sales of anti-wrinkle filler Radiesse.
The company said the new product is a "next-generation" cosmetic dermal filler intended for long-lasting correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

Bioform said the filler has also been cleared for correction of facial fat loss in HIV-infected patients.
The company said Radiesse is the first filler to use calcium-based microsphere technology that not only fills in wrinkles, but also stimulates the body to produce new collagen.
