Separately, British authorities said this week they have identified 18 websites that are illegally selling anti-flu drug Tamiflu, according to published reports.

Seven of the 18 sites are based in the United States, three in the U.K. and another two in Canada, according to Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Agency (MHRA).

In addition, Switzerland, Bahrain, Jersey, Cyprus, Singapore and Malta had one each of the websites purporting to sell Tamiflu.

All of the sites are under investigation by local authorities, MHRA said.

The British agency said it has launched a public awareness campaign warning the public about the risks of acquiring purported Tamiflu over the Internet.

Meanwhile, health officials from the United States, the Netherlands and Austria say they have traced shipments of fake Tamiflu to Asia, reports said.
