'Transparent,' Gina Rodriguez, Jeffery Tambor win Golden Globes for TV comedy

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Amazon's Transparent was named Best TV Comedy and its star Jeffrey Tambor Best TV Comedy Actor at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night.

"Oh, this is big. This is so much bigger than me. ... Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for putting us on the map and making people aware of of our story," Tambor said of the show, which is about the life of a transgender woman.

Gina Rodriguez earned the prize for Best Actress in a TV Comedy for her work in Jane the Virgin, the CW's take on the Spanish telenovela.

"Thank you, God, for making me an artist," Rodriguez declared upon accepting her trophy.

"Thank you to my entire cast. I am nothing without you," she said. "Thank you to my Mom and my Dad for telling me to dream big and to never stop dreaming. ... This award is so much more than myself, it represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes."
