Like the novels, the series follows the adventures of Claire, a British former World War II combat nurse who is magically transported through an ancient stone circle to 18th-century Scotland. Played on the small screen by Caitriona Balfe, Claire becomes the healer for the clan MacKenzie and falls in love with warrior Jamie, played by Sam Heughan, while trying to make her way back to her own time period and her academic husband Frank, played by Tobias Menzies.

Saturday's episode finds Frank desperately searching for his missing wife, while Claire tries to come to terms with her recent marriage to Jamie.

"Claire is faced with an emotional quandary as a life-altering opportunity presents itself," a synopsis of the installment said.
