WWE Raw: Ronda Rousey challenges Stephanie McMahon

By Wade Sheridan

March 6 (UPI) -- New signee Ronda Rousey chose her first opponent Monday on Raw when she challenged commissioner Stephanie McMahon to a match at WrestleMania.

The former UFC champion got into the face of McMahon alongside general manager Kurt Angle to kick-off Raw after weeks of animosity between the pair that included a botched contract signing that ended with the WWE authority figure slapping Rousey and McMahon's husband Triple H being slammed into a table.

McMahon, looking shocked at being challenged, was then joined by Triple H who protested that such a match could not happen as his wife was not an active member of the WWE roster. Angle then stepped in claiming that McMahon did have a dual contract as a competitor along with Triple H and stated that since he makes the matches, Triple H and McMahon will face Rousey and himself at WrestleMania in a Mixed Tag Match.

A brawl then ensued between Angle and Triple H with The Olympic Hero able to put the WWE COO into his patent Ankle Lock submission move while Rousey also traded blows with McMahon who attacked Rousey from behind. After McMahon tried to escape, Rousey picked up her rival by the hair and threw her back into the ring where she proceeded to deliver a Samoan Drop.

Also on Raw, Roman Reigns, the No. 1 contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship at WrestleMania, confronted the champions advocate Paul Heyman who was speaking alone on behalf of his client.

Heyman, after congratulating Reigns on being only the second person ever besides Lesnar to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania, promised the audience that The Beast will conquer The Big Dog and continue to keep the Universal Championship in his possession.

Reigns then appeared and continued to taunt how Lesnar, despite being champion, rarely makes WWE appearances and that the fans deserve someone better. Reigns then said that when Lesnar arrives next week on Raw, he needs to be ready for a fight.

Other moments from Raw included Asuka defeating Nia Jax; Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Sheamus defeating The Revival; free agent John Cena appearing on Raw to battle and defeat Goldust; Bayley defeating Mandy Rose; Braun Strowman defeating Elias in a Symphony of Destruction Match that ended with Elias being crushed by a piano; Bray Wyatt defeating Rhyno before being challenged to a match by Woken Matt Hardy that will take place on The Hardy Compound; and Finn Balor and Seth Rollins defeating The Miz and his Miztourage before Angle announced that The Miz will be defending his Intercontinental Championship against Balor and Rollins in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania.
