May 31 (UPI) -- A final autopsy report has confirmed actress Erin Moran died in April from complications related to cancer.

The report, obtained by ET Online, backs up what officials said shortly after the Happy Days star died in southern Indiana on April 22.

Moran, 56, played daughter Joanie Cunningham on the hit television show and its spinoff Joanie Loves Chachi.

Her husband, Steven Fleischmann, wrote in an open letter posted in late April on a Facebook page for Moran's co-star Scott Baio that the actress had been ill for months because of complications from skin cancer.

At one point, she needed a feeding tube to eat, Fleischmann wrote.

"The coroner said even if she was in the hospital being pumped full of antibiotics she still would not [have] made it," Fleischmann wrote. "He said it was the best that she was with me and went in her sleep."
