Ellen DeGeneres to headline new comedy special for Netflix

May 24 (UPI) -- Ellen DeGeneres is taping a stand-up comedy special for Netflix.

"It has been 15 years since I did a stand-up special. Fifteen years. And I'm writing it now, I can't wait. I'll keep you posted when and where I'm gonna shoot my Netflix special. I'm excited to do it; I'm excited for you to see it," DeGeneres said in a statement Wednesday.

She is the host of the Daytime Emmy-winning The Ellen DeGeneres Show and recently lent her voice to the title character in the animated blockbuster Finding Dory.

No airdate for the Netflix special has been announced yet.
