'Star Wars Rebels' to end with fourth season

April 16 (UPI) -- Disney XD's animated series Star Wars Rebels is to wrap with its upcoming, fourth season.

Executive producer Dave Filoni revealed the show's fate Saturday morning during the Star Wars Celebration Orlando fan event.

"I know it's tough," Filoni acknowledged.

"But I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of Star Wars," he added, explaining how ending the Rebels story at this point allows it to be "the most meaningful it can be."

A 2-minute trailer is now online for the last season, which is to debut in the fall. The show's voice cast includes Taylor Gray, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Tiya Sircar and Steven Blum.
