April 7 (UPI) -- The Walking Dead may feature the return of a late fan-favorite character.

Showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed in an interview with TVLine that Steven Yeun might reprise Glenn Rhee in a flashback or vision tied to Maggie Greene's (Lauren Cohen) pregnancy.

"It's possible," the executive producer said. "I'd be silly to say it isn't."

Glenn and Maggie, his wife, were expecting a baby when Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed Glenn in the Season 7 premiere. Gimple said fans may have to wait a while, however, for Maggie to give birth.

"She might not be that close," he shared. "Things have been moving pretty quickly, but not a lot of time has passed."

In real life, Yeun welcomed his first child, son Jude Malcolm, with wife Joanna Pak in March. The 33-year-old actor addressed Glenn's death in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in October.

"I think Glenn died in a very Glenn way," he said. "Still not thinking about himself. It's appropriate that he ends there, and it's also appropriate that he kind of puts those last words out there as a final 'look out for each other.'"

The Walking Dead is based on the Robert Kirkman comic series of the same name, and completed a seventh season on AMC last week. Gimple recently told The Hollywood Reporter he doesn't foresee the show outpacing the books.

"With some plans we have for the future, I don't think so," he said. "I think it's unlikely, but it depends where the book stops."
