April 6 (UPI) -- Nikki Bella says she "forgot how to breathe" during John Cena's proposal.

The 33-year-old wrestler and reality star said on Wednesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live that she was excited but not completely surprised when Cena popped the question Sunday at WrestleMania 33.

"There was a lot of speculation. But his mom was sitting front row -- the first time she's ever been to a live wrestling event in over 16 years. So I was like, 'Oh, maybe this is for me!'" Bella recalled.

"I forgot how to breathe and I got really nervous," she admitted. "And then I said yes!"

Cena proposed to Bella on live television after winning a tag-team wrestling match with the star. The couple have been dating nearly five years, and discussed their engagement in a joint interview Monday on Today.

"I never actually would've thought that he would've proposed in front of all those people, but that's home for us. WWE is our home. Is where we met, it's our passion, it's our life," Bella said.

"For me, it was kinda like he's my Prince Charming and he's just saying, 'I want her to be my queen' at our home and in front of our family," she added. "Honestly, I couldn't have asked for it to be any other way. It was perfect."

Bella and her twin sister, Brie Bella, came to fame by competing as the Bella Twins in the WWE. The siblings and Cena, also a WWE wrestler, star on the E! series Total Divas and Total Bellas.
