April 6 (UPI) -- Actor and comedian Adam DeVine is set to host MTV's Movie & TV Awards ceremony on May 7, the cable network announced Wednesday.
This will mark the first time MTV will honor favorites in television, as well as film.
The gala is to take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Nominations, performers and presenters are expected to be announced at a later date.
"We're living in a golden age of content, and great storytelling and characters resonate regardless of whether you're watching it in a theater or on TV," Chris McCarthy, president of MTV, said in a statement when details about the expanded event were revealed last month. "The new MTV Movie and TV Awards will celebrate even more of the brightest, bravest, funniest and most shared films and TV shows resonating across youth culture."
DeVine, 33, is known for his work on the sitcom Modern Family and in the films Pitch Perfect, Pitch Perfect 2, Neighbors, The Intern and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
