A New York Police Department spokesman confirmed to People that Pally was arrested after officers observed him smoking marijuana from an e-cigarette in public view. Police conducted a search and also found a small amount of cocaine.

The spokesman said Pally was given a desk appearance ticket and allowed to leave the precinct after his arrest was processed. The actor is scheduled to appear in court in June.

Pally, who shares 5-year-old son Cole and 4-year-old daughter GG with wife Daniella, is known for playing Dr. Peter Prentice on The Mindy Project. The Hulu series announced its sixth and final season this week.

"Next stop, more Mindy. The final season coming September 2017," the show tweeted Wednesday.

Pally also portrays Dan Chambers on the Fox comedy Making History, which premiered a first season this month. He came to fame as Max Blum on the ABC series Happy Endings.
