Ellen Pompeo says her son is 'the sweetest thing ever'

March 23 (UPI) -- Mom-of-three Ellen Pompeo says her infant son is "the sweetest thing ever."

The 47-year-old Grey's Anatomy star gushed about her family's newest additions -- 5-month-old son Eli and puppy Lily -- on Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"I do [have three kids], and four dogs, four chickens and a fish. Oh, and a husband, too," Pompeo said. "[Eli] is the sweetest thing ever. So adorable. He's 5 months."

"I have the most fantastic baby nurse, Jackie," she added. "She helps me. I'd be nowhere without her because I work longs days, and I need help caring for him and she's got my back and his."

Pompeo announced in December that she and husband Chris Ivery had welcomed a son. The couple, who also share 7-year-old daughter Stella and 2-year-old daughter Sienna, adopted dog Lily in February.

"She's the tan one," the actress told DeGeneres. "I was scared for her when she first came because she was really scared. Every time someone would come in the house she would run and hide under the bed because I think she thought someone was going to take her away."

"She has made the most amazing progress. She's a completely different dog," she shared.

Pompeo plays Dr. Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy, which is in the midst of its 13th season on ABC. The medical drama was renewed for a 14th season in February following news of Jerrika Hinton's impending departure.
