Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Marvel has announced that a former cast member of ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return in April.

This week's episode saw the heroes waking up within the alternate reality of the Framework where Grant Ward is still alive.

Brett Dalton, who played Ward for three seasons, will be part of the ensemble when the sci-fi series resumes its fourth season on April 4.

"What role will Ward play in this new reality? We can't say..." Marvel teased on its website Wednesday, linking to a brief video of Dalton reading a script and smiling on the Shield set.
