LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- The revival of Twin Peaks will premiere on Showtime with a two-hour episode on Sunday, May 21. Showtime president and CEO David Nevins made the announcement Monday at the 2017 Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The show, which originally aired on ABC for two seasons in 1990 and 1991, was about the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer. The revival will pick up 25 years later and was written and produced by original creators David Lynch and Mark Frost.

Several new stars will be joining the series including David Duchovny, Ashley Judd, Tim Roth, Eddie Vedder, Trent Reznor, Tom Sizemore, Harry Dean Stanton and Naomi Watts.
