LOS ANGELES, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Milo Ventimiglia performed an impressive feat of strength Tuesday on Ellen when he did a series of push-ups while Ellen DeGeneres laid on his back.

The moment happened after the daytime host complimented the actor on his fit physique which was recently showcased in People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive issue.

"I've gotta say, you're a fit guy," DeGeneres noted. "When I'm hugging you, you're like solid."

DeGeneres then brought up how he was able to flawlessly perform push-ups while someone laid on his back in a recent episode of Ventimiglia's NBC comedy-drama This Is Us.

"[Randall] has a moment where he gets to connect with his father and remember and recall this moment where his father, his adopted father, literally carried him on his back and showed him that he will be there for his son for his entire life as he can, and so we did a bunch of push-ups," Ventimiglia explained of the scene.

"And then, backstage, we thought, 'Hey, wouldn't it be funny if we put Sterling [K. Brown, who plays adult Randall] on my back and see how many push-ups I can do?'" he continued about how his costars joined in on the push-up fun.

Wanting to see his push-up abilities herself, DeGeneres had Ventimiglia do some with her on his back much to the crowd's delight.

The fall finale of This Is Us is set to air Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
