LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- TV Land has found its new leads to portray the evil high school clique known as the Heathers in the network's upcoming reboot of Heathers.

Field is set to portray Heather Chandler, a character originally portrayed by Kim Walker who is described as having a body like Martha Dumptruck, a character from the 1988 cult film who was bullied for her weight.

Scannell meanwhile will step into the role of Heather Duke, who was first portrayed by Shannen Doherty. The character is being reimagined as a gender-queer male whose real name is Heath.

The character of Heather McNamara, played by Lisanne Falk, will be taken over by Mathews and will be a lesbian.

Recently, the network cast their two leads with James Scully joining the pilot as the rebellious J.D. while Under the Dome star Grace Victoria Cox will appear as Veronica. The signature roles were first filled by Christian Slater and Winona Ryder.

First announced in March, the reboot has been described as a black comedy anthology series that will follow a new set of girls who are a part of the ever popular high school social clique known as the Heathers.

The original film focused on J.D. and Veronica as they plotted revenge against the Heathers with deadly results.
