'Sherlock' Season 4 to premiere Jan. 1

LONDON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- The British detective drama Sherlock -- starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman -- is to return with a fresh episode on New Year's Day.

"It's not a game anymore. #Sherlock Series 4 coming 1st January 2017," said a Wednesday Facebook post featuring the latest trailer.

Another message revealed the first episode will be called "The Six Thatchers." It included the photo of a violin.

The wildly popular show is a contemporary take on the classic Victorian tales by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It airs on PBS in the United States and on the BBC in the United Kingdom.
