ATLANTA, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- The mystery of which longtime Walking Dead denizen would die at the hands of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's villain Negan was finally answered in Sunday's Season 7 premiere.

Negan cruelly beat someone to death with his barbed wire-covered, baseball bat Lucille at the end of Season 6 in April, however the victim remained unknown with fans left to speculate until this weekend.

Among the possible prey were Daryl [played by Norman Reedus,] Glenn [played by Steven Yeun,] Glenn's pregnant wife Maggie [played by Lauren Cohan,] Rick [played by Andrew Lincoln,] Rick's girlfriend Michonne [played by Danai Gurira,] Rick's son Carl [played by Chandler Riggs,] Abraham [played by Michael Cudlitz,] Abraham's girlfriend Sasha [played by Sonequa Martin-Green,] Abraham's ex-girlfriend Rosita [played by Christian Serratos,] Aaron [played by Ross Marquand] and Eugene [played by Josh McDermitt.]

Sunday's episode opened with Rick vowing to kill Negan, then revealed via flashback that Negan actually had slain both Abraham and Glenn. In the comic books on which the show is based, this is how Glenn dies. Abraham is murdered earlier in the print edition.

The episode also saw Negan's men take Daryl away in a van and a broken Rick agree -- on behalf of himself, his son and his followers -- to serve their tormentor. The show ends with Sasha heading toward a village so ailing and enraged Maggie can see a doctor, while the rest of the group returns to Alexandria to mourn their losses and inform those who stayed behind there about what happened.

All of the previously mentioned cast members -- and thousands of fans -- attended a taping of Talking Dead at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in the pouring rain to digest the horror and comfort each other. The 90-minute, analysis program aired on AMC immediately after the return of The Walking Dead.
