'Walking Dead' alum Laurie Holden joins 'The Americans'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Former Walking Dead star Laurie Holden has signed on to join the cast of The Americans for Season 5.

According to TVLine, Holden will be featured in a recurring role on the FX drama as Renee, a love interest for star Noah Emmerich's character Stan Beeman.

Renee and Beeman are said to come together after she catches the FBI agents attention at a gym.

Holden has kept busy following her character Andrea's demise on The Walking Dead during Season 3 having guest-starred on shows such as Major Crimes and Chicago Fire. She also appeared in the comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber To.

Season 5 of The Americans which has already started production, will be the second to last season before the series ends with Season 6.

"It's hard to believe we're heading into the final stretch of The Americans and we're so grateful to know we'll be telling the story to its conclusion," said showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields about entering into the final two seasons.

The Americans will return in early 2017.
