Norman Reedus on filming 'Walking Dead' game-changer: 'It was miserable'

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Norman Reedus admits he didn't enjoy filming the scenes in which a beloved Walking Dead character is beaten to death with a barbed wire-covered, baseball bat.

Reedus' Daryl, as well as numerous other longtime characters, remain possible victims of villain Negan's cruelty. Negan -- played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan -- killed one of the show's regulars at the end of Season 6, but that finale ended in a cliff hanger.

The heart-wrenching murder is expected to be shown in the series' Season 7 premiere, which is set to air Oct. 23 on AMC.

Footage released during a fan event at New York Comic Con Saturday suggested Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes survived the ordeal, but it is unclear who else remains alive.

Asked by panel moderator Chris Hardwick what his character Daryl was thinking when he and his friends were rounded up by Negan and marked for death, Reedus replied: "That we're all going to die. That's what's going through everyone's head. We're outnumbered and it doesn't look good.

"It's a weird feeling to be that powerless when we've always fought to survive, and to just be put on our knees, and it doesn't look like we're going to get over that wall, you know what I mean? It's a horrible feeling. I hated shooting all of that. It was miserable. It sucked. It really did."
