LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Bates Motel and Empire alum Damon Gupton has joined the cast of Criminal Minds for the procedural's current, 12th season, CBS announced. The actor's Special Agent Stephen Walker from the Behavioral Analysis Program will be introduced in this season's eighth episode.

"He's a seasoned profiler who will bring his spy-hunting skill set to the BAU," which is the counterintelligence division of the FBI, press notes explained.
"Our BAU family is growing," Erica Messer, the series' executive producer/show-runner, said in a statement. "We're excited to have Damon join the show and work alongside our amazing cast and crew."
Gupton's film credits include Whiplash, La La Land, This is Forty, The Last Airbender, Helen at Rish, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Unfaithful and The Loretta Claiborne Story.
Criminal Minds stars Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, Kirsten Vangsness and Adam Rodriguez.
