Supergirl and Superman team up in new 'Supergirl' Season 2 trailer

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Supergirl and Superman join forces to save the day for the first time in a new trailer for Season 2 of Supergirl.

The clip released Monday on the show's official Twitter account, shows Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) being joined by series newcomer Tyler Hoechlin (Superman) as he pays his cousin a visit in her adopted hometown of National City.

"#SupergirlCW and Superman team up on the season premiere, Monday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW!" noted the network, revealing that Superman will make an appearance right at the start of Season 2.

While visiting National City, Hoechlin also visits Supergirl, aka Kara Danvers during her day job as famed Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent.

"You didn't tell me that you knew Clark Kent," Supergirl's boss Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) says.

Hoechlin who was cast as the television version of the iconic hero in July, has stated how serious he is about taking on the role. "I know the character represents so much to so many people," the actor previously said. "There is a lot of responsibility with this character. I'm really excited."
