Paget Brewster returning to 'Criminal Minds' for Season 12 guest arc

LOS ANGELES, July 22 (UPI) -- Actress Paget Brewster will reprise her role of Emily Prentiss in a multi-episode, guest arc on Criminal Minds, CBS announced.

Brewster was a regular cast member on the show 2006-12, but, since she left, she occasionally guest stars on the series, which features Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness and Adam Rodriguez.

"We're excited to have Paget Brewster back for multiple episodes in our 12th season," Erica Messer, the procedural's executive producer/showrunner, said in a statement Thursday. "The [Behavioral Analysis Unit] can use more help this year since they've got a lot of known and unknown subjects to catch."

Season 12, which is to kick off Sept. 28, will see the escape of 13 serial killers.
