"So thrilled to be joining the wonderful Legends of Tomorrow team as Vixen! @TheCW_Legends #LegendsOfTomorrow #vixen," she wrote.

Richardson-Sellers will portray Amaya Jiwe, the original Vixen and grandmother to Mari McCabe. Megalyn Echikunwoke played Mari on The CW series Arrow and voices the character in CW Seed's animated show Vixen.

"Before Mari, her grandmother Amaya wielded the powers of #Vixen. @maisie_rs joins #LegendsOfTomorrow next season!" Legends of Tomorrow tweeted.

"We're so excited for the supertalented @maisie_rs to join #LegendsofTomorrow as the original #Vixen," the show's writer's account added.

In the DC comics, Vixen wears a talisman, the Tantu Totem, that helps her control Earth's morphogenetic field. The character can mimic the abilities of any animal, allowing her to gain strength, fly and swim.

Legends of Tomorrow co-stars Victor Garber, Arthur Davill and Caity Lotz, and will premiere a second season Oct. 13. Richardson-Sellers is known for playing Rebekah Mikaelson on The Originals and appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
