NEW YORK, June 3 (UPI) -- Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto will face off on Lip Sync Battle.

Entertainment Weekly revealed the 37-year-old actress and 39-year-old actor will compete in a special one-hour episode of the Spike series. The Star Trek co-stars play Uhura and Spock in the franchise reboot.

Saldana and Quinto's episode will air June 9 at 8 p.m. ET ahead of the 2016 Spike Guys' Choice Awards. The actress will perform TLC with Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, while Quinto will channel Missy Elliott.

"I'm competing against a really good friend that I love and respect and he's going to really bring it and give it his all, so the least I can do is do the same," Saldana said. "I'm just going to do what I do best, which is to focus on myself and take it minute by minute."

"I feel a bit daunted," Quinto admitted. "It's pretty high intensity, a lot of production elements, basically a live performance that I've had about two days to rehearse for, with a 700-person audience. It's unlike anything I've done, which is why I wanted to do it."

Saldana appeared as Uhura in a new character poster for Star Trek Beyond this week. The movie is a sequel to Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek into Darkness (2013), and opens in theaters July 22.

"I think every installment that we've done has been very unique in terms of where [the characters are] at, where each character is at in their own personal lives, and also as a crew," the actress previously told Collider.

"I'm really excited about [the sequel] because now it's an ensemble more than ever," she revealed. "Everybody's relationship, all of their dynamics are tested. Spock and Uhura [as love interests] are going to be tested as well."

Star Trek Beyond will co-star Chris Pine as James Kirk, Karl Urban as Leonard McCoy and Simon Pegg as Montgomery Scott. The film is directed by Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin.
