HBO sets 'Westworld' for fall premiere

NEW YORK, May 27 (UPI) -- HBO's upcoming sci-fi drama Westworld is set to premiere on the network this fall.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement made Thursday included confirmation that the premium cable channel would be premiering Westworld alongside comedies Insecure, High Maintenance and Divorce starring Sarah Jessica Parker.

Based on the 1973 film of the same name, the long-delayed Westworld developed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy with J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk as executive producers, revolves around a futuristic amusement park populated by androids who begin questioning their existence.

The series will feature a star-studded cast which includes Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright. HBO has yet to announce an exact premiere date.

The fall start time comes after HBO announced the departure of programming president Michael Lombardo, replaced by Casey Bloys according to Variety in order to jumpstart and complete a collection of new shows.
