LOS ANGELES, May 24 (UPI) -- Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd were crowned the winners of Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars Tuesday evening.

They beat out mixed martial arts fighter Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas, and meteorologist Ginger Zee and Valentin Chmerkovskiy for the show's coveted mirror-ball trophy. The win came one night after DiMarco and Murgatroyd astounded the judges and viewers with their passionate, meaningful interpretation of "The Sound of Silence."
