LOS ANGELES, April 9 (UPI) -- Freeform says it will make its first venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the new series Marvel's Cloak and Dagger.

The Disney-owned cable network described the show as "a superhero love story," but did not announce any casting for it.

The program is expected to debut during the 2016-17 television season.

Several Marvel comic-book properties have already made for successful, live-action, small-screen adaptations. Freeform's sister station ABC is home to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, while Netflix streams the original programs Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
